A report released this week by an Australian pollster found that the country’s Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is the most trusted man in the country, but only because he is a member of the Liberal Party.
The report, which was commissioned by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC), concluded that the Prime Minister’s popularity is “so low that even people who voted for him have lost faith in his ability to act.”
But despite Turnbull’s perceived lack of leadership, the AEC report noted that he was a prime minister with a “very good track record of delivering economic outcomes for Australians, and he was the most popular Prime Minister in the 2016 federal election.”
“We know that the public is not satisfied with the government’s performance,” the Aec report said.
“The public is disillusioned with the current Government, and they are not happy with the leadership of the Prime Minster.
It is the public who are unhappy with the way the Prime Ministers performance is.”
According to the AEA report, while Turnbull is a popular figure in Australia, he is not popular with the country as a whole.
“Australians don’t trust the Turnbull Government to do what is right for the country,” the report concluded.
The AEC said it conducted a poll in Australia on September 28, and found that “a clear majority of respondents believe the Prime minister is not doing the right things for Australia.”
The report also found that most Australians believed that Turnbull’s government has done little to help the country in the past year.
Only 1% of Australians believe that Turnbull has done more to help his country.
AEC spokesperson, David Healy, told Breitbart News that the AEU report is based on polling conducted on August 26-28, and that “the AEC conducted a detailed survey of all Australians in an effort to better understand what Australians want, rather than what the public thinks about the Primeminster.”
“The survey was based on an online panel of 1,000 Australians, covering all Australians aged 18 and over,” Healy said.
The results from the AEE poll were released in a report titled “Malcolm Turnbull’s Coalition government’s track record: What Australians think, how they vote, and the future of the Australian economy,” which was released by the AEO last week.
The paper, which has been widely disseminated by the media, focused on the Prime ministerial popularity ratings and how those ratings have changed since Turnbull’s election.
The “track record” that the report noted was “quite positive,” with people expecting the Prime ministers performance to be better than the previous administration.
“Malays success and success of his Government was largely due to the fact that the Government did not lose the election,” the document stated.
The article noted that, “There is also a positive track record for the government from the very beginning, with the Prime and Treasurer both having achieved a high score of approval.”
The AEE report also noted that a majority of Australians (56%) thought that the PM’s performance as Prime Minister was “not good,” with the rest (26%) saying they had a “good opinion” of Turnbull.
The pollster also noted a “significant lack of trust” in the Prime’s leadership, with only 20% of respondents believing that Turnbull is “a good Prime Minister.”
The Australian Government is a major contributor to the Australian public purse, and many Australians are frustrated by the lack of economic progress that has been achieved by Turnbull’s Labor government.
