Trump on Wednesday said the U.S. has “to protect” endangered salmon habitats and said that “we have got to do something about that.”
Trump spoke at the Atlantic Salmon Commission’s meeting in Biscayne Bay, Florida.
He said that the U,S.
should “protect” the fish and that “our fishing laws have to be enforced.”
The president also said that fish farming is a “game changer.”
Trump has vowed to “make it illegal to take in wild salmon, to turn it into something that you could use as fertilizer, to make it into meat.”
Trump said that he would not let “these fish go to waste” and that the fish industry is a big source of jobs.
He said he wants the U to focus on “a different kind of fish that we’re not getting to eat, and that’s wild salmon.”
